Hunt for Food

Hi ppl,

South Calcutta.. is quite far away from our place.. and hence we hadnt put much visits to that place.. in this more than a year stay at Cal

so seku and me decided to spend some time yesterday to explore South Cal... in mean time.. we heard that there is a south indian restaurant out there (The Bannana Leaf).. so that was a another boost to our expedition ;-)

left the house at around 4 in the evening.. and reached out the main location at South Cal... it was a bit clean and organized from the heart of Cal.. and lots of roadside shops.. bustling with energy.. of the shopkeepers,bargainers.. and esp the pairs moving out there.. it was a nice place to freak around.. but i guess.. we were the only guys without a pair ;-)

yet without being startled by it.. we choosed a road and started walking towards it.. no aims.. no plans.. we didnt know where we are going.. and how were are gonna come back.. (indeed that kinda thing was real nice u know..) since yest was a republic day.. not much shops open.. and the city seemed to look dull in this winter and early sunset.. in the areas we proceeded..

suddenly we encountered a railway track.. you'l never believe it.. not only both the sides of the railway track were full of huts but.. ppl.. were cooking very very close to the rly track... a huge group of ppl scattered throught the track..were chatting.. and all of this... was not just on a abandonded rly track.. may be their senses were too sharp to find out when the train comes.. the peak comedy was .. few ppl were cooking adjascent to the rly track.. and many many many clothes were hanging on cables.. tied.. in between rly tracks...
cmon..

what else strange you could see in this place.. so we moved back towards our next target.. The Bannana Leaf..

we were so hungry after that loooong walk... and once we saw that hotel.. we rushed into it.. and the items in the menu there werent much varieties (hey.. something is better than nothing.. thatz what we told ourselves and started ordering.. ;-)

there was that aapam in that menu.. wow.. one of my favourites.. and coconut milk was also available along with it.. never minded the cost.. ordered it with extra cup of that milk.. had a couple of apaams.. then ordered those mini idli's (hey this is what i ate a lot in TVM near Libra)... ordered a cup of ghee and an extra cup of Sambhar (hey ganesh.. how we used to drink sambhar in college canteen.. i got remembered that da)..

the waiter looked at us very strange... when we ordered things extra.. and smiled and went.. (cauz.. we were the only tamilians out there in that restaurant.. others were all bengali's tasting the south indian cuisine)

we didnt notice or give importance to anything other than enjoying our food..
after a diwali days.. had some the lovely food i was missing a lot ;-) then came the bill comedy.. the bill was 150 and when we checked our purses.. we didnt have that much amnt... when we decided to scratch a card.. the minimum limit was 200 bucks..

have u ever ate extra to increase your bill.. WE DID IT.. WE HAPPILLY DID IT.. gulped in an extra aapam with 2 cups of coconut milk ;-) .. rounded off the bill to 196 + 4 rs extra.. managed to scratch the card and escaped back to home..

so much walking and a real heavy food + a happy mind = damn tired + fall on bed = dead sleep.
